GREEN BAY, Wis.\u00a0\u2014 Among the new faces at Packers Organized Team Activities this week in Green Bay was offensive lineman Aaron Banks.<\/p>\n
He left the San Francisco 49ers and signed with the Green Bay Packers in free agency. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Banks told reporters he was excited when he learned of Green Bay\u2019s interest. His agent told him to \u201cthink cheese.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI bring physicality,\u201d said Banks. \u201cI think I bring leadership and experience, being that I\u2019ve played a number of playoff games. I played a lot of football, and in a similar scheme. So, I think just as kind of a veteran presence, but also still young.\u201d<\/p>\n
With a reported four-year, $77 million deal, Banks is expected to start at left guard for the Packers. At 6\u20195\u201d and 325 pounds, he should bolster the Packers\u2019 running attack led by Josh Jacobs.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s really good, man,\u201d said Banks. \u201cJust watching him on tape, the way he can create in his runs and how physical and downhill he is. I think that the running back plays a big part in the success of the run game, not just the O-line, but the two together. I was excited to get to block for him.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Spectrum News asked Banks what his impressions of Packers quarterback Jordan Love were from the outside, and what they are now that he\u2019s seen him as a teammate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI always thought he was a really good quarterback and a really good leader,\u201d said Banks. \u201cNow, getting to see it up front, I don\u2019t think anything other than that. I think he\u2019s a great leader. I think he leads the huddle. Not only that, he leads in the locker room.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old Banks went to the Super Bowl with San Francisco, but he didn\u2019t win it. That\u2019s his goal for the Packers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a young team, and guys are only getting better,\u201d said Banks.\u00a0\u201cI think as the younger guys on this team start to become older guys, and we start to bring everybody along, I just think we\u2019re really close. I think we have all the tools and all the pieces to get there and not only get there, but win it. I want to win a Super Bowl, that\u2019s it. Been close. I just want to win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Banks, who went to Notre Dame, said he will be at the Irish\u2019s game against the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field in 2026.
