The Chicago Bears<\/a> saw the Green Bay Packers<\/a> three times last season.<\/p>\n

They first met at Lambeau Field in Week 14<\/a>. The Packers narrowly beat the Bears, thanks to an interception in the red zone with a minute to go.<\/p>\n

Chicago got its revenge in Week 16 after a dramatic overtime win thanks to a D.J. Moore<\/a> touchdown. The win was not only great for the rivalry but also put the Bears back on top of the NFC North<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t over yet, as the Bears played one more time in the Wild Card round<\/a>. The Bears were down 21-3 at one point and came back to win 31-27 to end the Packers’ season.<\/p>\n

The Bears are beating the Packers<\/a> in more ways than one. The Packers just handed out some questionable contracts to players who have underperformed based on the amount of money they are being paid.<\/p>\n

Green Bay<\/a> just extended the contracts of receivers Christian Watson<\/a> and Jayden Reed<\/a>. Watson signed a four-year, $110.5 million extension, and Reed was extended for three years at $50.3 million.<\/p>\n

Both of those players combined are earning $160.75 million with their new deals.<\/p>\n

Neither Watson nor Reed was able to play a full season in 2025. They combined for 818 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season. Watson played in 10 games, while Reed had seven.<\/p>\n

Now, let’s look at two of the Bears’ best receivers, Rome Odunze<\/a> and Luther Burden. Odunze and Burden are both still on their rookie deals for the next three years.<\/p>\n

The Bears are paying Odunze and Burden a combined $33.6 million on their rookie deals. The two had a combined 1,313 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season.<\/p>\n

It’s clear that Chicago has made the better choice so far.<\/p>\n

You can even look at Watson and Reed’s availability over the years to further your case. Watson has never played a full season since coming into the NFL in 2022. He hasn’t even had a 1,000-yard season yet.<\/p>\n

Reed has never played a full 17-game season either, nor has he yet to eclipse 1,000 yards.<\/p>\n

The Bears said goodbye to veteran receiver D.J. Moore, whose production has declined since he was traded to Chicago ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft. Moore had 1,364 receiving yards in his first season with the franchise, but then had 966 in 2024 and 682 last season.<\/p>\n

He has since been traded to the Buffalo Bills<\/a> for a second-round pick, as the Bears got younger at the position.<\/p>\n

Odunze and Burden aren’t the only key players for the Bears who are still on their rookie deals. Caleb Williams<\/a>, Kyle Monangai<\/a>, Colston Loveland<\/a>, and Ozzy Trapilo<\/a> won’t have their contracts expire for a few years.<\/p>\n

It’s a good time to be a Bears fan.<\/p>\n

Chicago just reached the playoffs and eliminated their hated rival from the postseason. The Bears also snatched the NFC North title from the Packers to make things even sweeter.<\/p>\n
