NFL analyst grades Atlanta Falcons tight end room<\/p>\n

Few teams around the NFL have as much talent as the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> do at the offensive skill positions.<\/p>\n

Their top wide receiver Drake London just earned a huge new contract <\/a>that puts him in the top three highest-paid players at his position. When Bijan Robinson signs his next deal he will most likely become the highest-paid running back in the NFL, and they also have Kyle Pitts waiting to sign a potential massive extension that might also reset the market at tight end.<\/p>\n

Atlanta also has a pretty strong No. 2 option at tight end in returning veteran Austin Hooper, who has re-signed with the Falcons after a six-year absence.<\/p>\n

That gives Atlanta one of the better tight end rooms in the NFL, and Rotoballer has given them a “B” grade<\/a> at this position.<\/p>\n

“Pitts’ career has been up and down as he has a couple of high-end seasons sandwiched by injury-riddled years. Still, he is one of the better tight ends in the league and seemed to come into his own in Year 5 last season. Hooper has been a solid player in the league for many years. However, the rest of the depth chart is pretty bare.”<\/p>\n

The rest of the depth chart is relatively weak, but nobody has three high-quality tight ends on their roster.<\/p>\n

The big question hanging over this group is whether or not Pitts’ production in 2025 was a fluke or a legitimate break-through after disappointing results over the previous four years since he was drafted. This may be why the Falcons have yet to sign him to a long-term deal and have hit him with the franchise tag, which will pay Pitts around $15 million<\/a> if no new deal is reached by July 15.<\/p>\n

While the Falcons can save some cap room with an extension, it may be wiser to wait and see what Pitts does in 2026 before committing to a huge new contract.<\/p>\n
