\t\t\t\t\t\tMANCHESTER, N.H. \u2014 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Mandatory minicamp began Tuesday for the New England Patriots, with two key players making their first appearances of the offseason. <\/p>\n

Cornerback Christian Gonzalez and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte were in Foxborough after missing the team’s voluntary organized team activities last month. <\/p>\n

Gonzalez is seeking a contract extension as he enters his fourth NFL season and nears the end of his rookie contract. If he signs a new deal, he could become the league’s highest-paid cornerback. <\/p>\n

Head coach Mike Vrabel said he was excited to have Gonzalez back on the field. <\/p>\n

“Conversations have been great. I talked to him about his event last week. I talked to him about normal things that we talk about. It’s good to have everyone back in here,” Vrabel said. <\/p>\n

Boutte returned to a crowded wide receiver room following the additions of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. He has also been the subject of recent trade speculation. <\/p>\n

“I do want to be here,” Boutte said. “So whether it’s learn the playbook more, moving around, I mean, there’s only one football, there’s five of us, you know.”<\/p>\n

Patriots second-round draft pick Gabe Jacas was not present for minicamp after also missing OTAs. <\/p>\n

Vrabel said Jacas recently underwent a procedure and is not under contract. <\/p>\n

Minicamp is scheduled to continue through Thursday.
