Former head coach Gus Bradley as defensive coordinator fortifies Saleh and his expertise. With Daboll overseeing quarterback Cam Ward and veteran special teams guru John Fassel retained from former coach Brian Callahan\u2019s staff, the Titans have their best collection of coaches since the franchise employed Jeff Fisher, Mike Heimerdinger and Gregg Williams. Borgonzi and Saleh nailed the most essential hire.<\/p>\n
If Tennessee takes a jump offensively this year, another team likely scoops Daboll up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe succession plan comes from my seat in terms of what our plan is for each individual coach and how we develop them,\u201d Saleh said in January. \u201cI\u2019ve talked about it before, the most cliche statement a coach can make is that it\u2019s our job to develop players. It\u2019s like, \u2018Well, no kidding Of course that\u2019s our job, but who are the people developing the coaches who are asked to develop the players?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\u201cYou can have a coach in the stone age that\u2019s developing his player, but his players never going to leave the stone age. So how are we keeping our coaches up to date, evolving, staying ahead of the game so our players are constantly evolving and staying ahead of the game? So we have a program for that to make sure that our coaches are constantly evolving and pushing the envelope of what they\u2019re capable of. No different than we\u2019re going to ask our players to push the envelope with what they are capable of.<\/p>\n

Helm, a tight end heading into his second professional season, gave some insight into one such post-Daboll option. <\/p>\n
Tight ends coach Luke Stocker was one of six offensive and defensive coaches retained by Saleh from former coach Brian Callahan\u2019s staff. Continuity is huge for any player in the NFL, but especially those who have just arrived in the league. Helm, a fourth-round pick out of Texas in 2025, will feature prominently this season as long as he\u2019s healthy. <\/p>\n
His praise for his position coach comes as more than just lip service. <\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, that was one of my first phone calls,\u201d Helm said of his Stocker\u2019s return under Saleh. \u201c(Stocker) called me. So I was fired up. Obviously, you saw what he was able to do with me throughout a whole NFL season last year. I feel super confident coming into this offseason. He\u2019s really broken down the new offense for me. He\u2019s a football wizard, so it\u2019s been great to be in his room again\u201d<\/p>\n
