\u2014 marlonhumphrey.eth (@marlon_humphrey) May 29, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n \u00a0Everyone has thoughts on the contract standoff between the Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>\u00a0and rookie Shemar Stewart right now.<\/p>\n That apparently includes Baltimore Ravens<\/a> defensive back Marlon Humphrey.<\/p>\n On a post by the Ravens celebrating Malaki Starks signing his rookie deal<\/a>, Humphrey wrote the following: “Contract wasn\u2019t signed but still practicing.”<\/p>\n RELATED:\u00a0Bengals UDFA is already turning heads at OTAs<\/a><\/p>\n Later, Humphrey followed up with this: “I actually was taking a shot at agents. Didn\u2019t mean no disrespect to the bengals player yall talking about lol.”<\/p>\n Still, it’s easy to see how Humprehey had to go back and revise the meaning behind his statement — and why it looked like such.<\/p>\n The fact Stewart isn’t practicing with the Bengals<\/a> at all is rare. Most first-round picks who don’t sign contracts still partake in even voluntary activities, especially in the era of the rookie wage scale.<\/p>\n Stewart has been an especially unique case, reportedly stemming from the Bengals attempting to tweak specific language in his contract<\/a> that sets a new precedent for all of their contracts.<\/p>\n Whether the Bengals, Stewart or the rookie’s reps deserve the blame here is hard to fully say.
