There were no 7-on-7’s, no third down periods, and no redzone periods. Just standard move periods and some hurry-up move periods.

That gave us our biggest sample size of “regular” football situations from Cam Ward so far this year. He attempted 27 passes, and I charted each of them. Here’s a rundown of what he did.

Every play of Cam Ward’s day on Wednesday

The way that this worked is that the first team offense and defense ran a drive until it stalled, then the 2’s, then the 3’s, then repeat. It was like that all afternoon with just a few moments that were clearly meant to simulate hurry-up situations.

Let’s take each drive one at a time:

Complete, short right, Pollard

DPI, short left, Ridley (DPI)

Complete, intermediate middle, Ayomanor

Complete, intermediate right, Robinson

Complete, short left, Tate

Complete, short left, Tate

Incomplete, intermediate middle, Ayomanor (Flott PBU)

Cam started very hot with five straight completions thanks to a DPI. It was called on a pass to Ridley, where a defender broke it up thanks to hitting the receiver way early. He completed strikes to an array of targets on this one, but stalled out in enemy territory when CB Cor’Dale Flott make a strong play breaking up a ball for Ayomanor.

Complete, short left, Tate

Incomplete, intermediate middle, Robinson (led pass too far)

Complete, intermediate right, Robinson

Complete, short right, Helm

Sack

This second drive was in hurry-up mode, and it was all or nothing for Cam. He got the ball to Tate, Robinson, and Helm on three quick and decisive strikes. But one inaccurate pass to Robinson missed him out in front, and they had to settle for a FG after a sack.

Incomplete, deep left, Tate (overthrow)

Incomplete, intermediate middle, ???

Complete, intermediate left, Ayomanor

Complete, short left, Dike

Complete, short middle, Robinson

Complete, short left, Robinson

Complete, short right, Robinson

Incomplete, short right, batted ball

We went back to normal speed for these next two drives, and the first nearly stalled out immediately. He overthrew Tate on a deep shot, which continues to be a weak point. That was followed by a failed play where the intended target was unclear.

But the first team offense salvaged things with a third down conversion to Ayomanor, which was theme for this group on the day. They we’re able to convert touchdowns, but they did get themselves out of a handful of third down jams.

Complete, short middle, Spears

Incomplete, short middle, Spears

Incomplete, deep left, Ayomanor (on-target, receiver never looked for it)

Incomplete, short middle, batted ball

This penultimate drive was the worst for the first team offense. after a short completion to Spears, three staight incompletions ended thing quickly. The most frustrating of the bunch was a brilliant deep pass on a dime to Ayomanor that the receiver didn’t get his head around in time for. Got to be on the same page there! Then the second batted ball in as many drives ended things. Cam’s stature and sidearm tendencies will always make that a risk he has to try to mitigate.

Complete, short right, Robinson

Complete, short middle, Ayomanor

Complete, short left, Robinson

Sack

Complete, short left, Bellinger

Complete, intermediate left, Robinson

Sack

The final drive of the day was another hurry-up session full of completions and sacks only. the offense moved the ball efficiently for the most part, but the defense got two key stops that forced a field goal try.

In the end, Ward went 19/27 by my count. This was his most efficient outing of this phase of practice, as well as his most in-command. He rolls into training camp with good momentum.

Tennessee Titans News

Jeffery Simmons updates his contract situation as Tennessee Titans end Mandatory Minicamp under new coach Robert Saleh

The Titans’ best player is DT Jeffery Simmons, who is set up to explode in 2026 in his new role on defense.
