SALINE, Mich. \u2013 Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood wasn\u2019t just a player at a recent youth football camp in Saline \u2014 he was a coach. Underwood teamed up with FlexWork Sports to run the camp, teaching kids the basic skills they need to succeed on and off the field.<\/p>\n
The camp gave kids a chance to learn from someone who has played at the next level \u2014 a reminder that anything is possible.<\/p>\n
Participant Daaron Tocco said the motivation to play college football someday is already there.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh yeah. A lot,\u201d Tocco said when asked about the work it takes to play at the next level.<\/p>\n
That goal starts on the practice field \u2014 with reps, grit and the everyday hard work that builds a player. <\/p>\n
Underwood says he attended camps like this one growing up, so hosting one himself feels surreal \u2014 a true full-circle moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a blessing for me to be out here, you know giving back to the community,\u201d Underwood said. \u201cI played in the area at Belleville High School. Just giving back and showing love to the kids, that\u2019s a blessing for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Throughout the day, kids ran drills, snapped photos with Underwood and asked the kind of questions that show they\u2019re dreaming big.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly just being here it\u2019s\u2026 I\u2019m just grateful to be here,\u201d said participant Kevin Alcox.<\/p>\n
More than a football camp<\/p>\n
Parents watching from the sideline say the event is about more than football \u2014 it\u2019s a way for kids to connect, make friends and build confidence.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy son\u2019s done another one of these camps and he noticed when he looked on his phone there was a text message from a kid he met at another camp and said, \u2018Hey, are you going to be here?\u2019\u201d said parent Meilan Han.<\/p>\n
Events like this build bonds \u2014 friendships that start on the field and last long after the final whistle.<\/p>\n
