{"id":924951,"date":"2026-06-21T14:57:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T14:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/924951\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T14:57:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T14:57:14","slug":"seahawks-tackle-super-bowl-champ-josh-jones-holds-youth-camp-at-george-bush-hs-football-brought-us-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/924951\/","title":{"rendered":"Seahawks tackle, Super Bowl champ Josh Jones holds youth camp at George Bush HS: \u2018Football brought us together\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">HOUSTON \u2013 Josh Jones walked back onto the football field at George Bush High School on Saturday morning at his youth football camp with a message about what\u2019s possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">One decade ago, the Richmond native was a high school football standout accepting a scholarship offer from the University of Houston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Today, the former Texans offensive tackle is a Super Bowl champion and the proud owner of a Super Bowl ring after starting three of 14 games last season for the Seattle Seahawks. Jones, 28, signed a one-year, $4 million contract to stay with the Seahawks in March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cI\u2019m just so super excited to be back at my alma mater and giving back to my community that helped me get to where I am,\u201d Jones told KPRC 2. \u201cJust giving back to the community, helping them learn skills. Being able to bring a Super Bowl champion back here, it\u2019s just a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jones was joined at his camp by his father, Bobby, former Seahawks and Texans safety Michael Tyson and several high school and Coogs teammates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cJust to have fun, we out here,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThe community brings us together. Football brought us together. We\u2019re going to go out there and have a good time. Whatever you put your mind to, you can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cI started here. If you choose the right path, you do the right things, you work hard, you\u2019ll be able to achieve anything you want. And get your grades, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Texans&#8217; Josh Jones (KPRC 2)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">When Jones got his Super Bowl ring designed by Jason\u2019s of Beverly Hills, it was an incredible feeling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">It marked the culmination of years of hard work for Jones, a 6-foot-7, 339-pound former Arizona Cardinals third-round draft pick who played for the Texans in 2023 after a trade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s honestly the best feeling in the world,\u201d Jones said. \u201cYou work so hard for that for that one opportunity, for that one shot. It\u2019s a lot of greats that don\u2019t have a Super Bowl championship. S,o I\u2019m just blessed to have one. Blessed to be able to do it with the team I was able to do it with.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cSome great guys, great locker room, great staff. So, it was super exciting and super fun. A memory I\u2019ll remember forever. Just an amazing atmosphere, amazing feeling to finally get the ring. All rights reserved)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">When Jones first signed with the Seahawks a year ago, he had a good feeling about the outlook for the team under coach Mike MacDonald.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Now, they\u2019ve made NFL history together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s cool, it\u2019s great,\u201c Jones said. \u201dHe\u2019s a good guy. He has a great mind, great football mind, great leader.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cHe was able to bring us together and help learn the culture. So it\u2019s been great. I\u2019m happy to be able to play for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Of course, it helps to have a cerebral, tough quarterback like Sam Darnold running the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cHe\u2019s a great, awesome guy,\u201d Jones said. \u201cHe\u2019s the same guy every day. People don\u2019t see all the work that he puts in, all the work on his body, all the work on his game, on the playbook.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s rare when he messes up anything. So, we knew in the game he was going to be on every single read, every single target. And then from that guy\u2019s story to how he started in the league to where he\u2019s at now, that\u2019s just telling on his character.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Having won it all, Jones is eager to do it all over again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">This year, we\u2019re running it forward,&#8221; Jones said. \u201cWe can\u2019t dwell on what we did last year. You got to put that to bed. It was a great time. It was a great experience, but now the work has to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jones has recovered from a knee injury and expects to be ready for training camp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cI head back to Monday to Seattle, get back to work, grind, get ready for camp, super excited for it,\u201d Jones said. \u201cI think I\u2019ll be full-go at the start of camp. We\u2019ll see how we work into it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jones has started 27 of 90 career games played.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cI couldn\u2019t ask for nothing better than to be raised in this city, being a part of the teams I\u2019ve been a part of all the way from Houston to Arizona to Baltimore and Seattle,\u201d Jones said. \u201cIt was all a blessing. And it\u2019s my journey. It\u2019s my path. It led me to where last year to be at the pinnacle, to be at the top.
