With the 2027 cornerback class dropping from four to two, McGee became more of a necessary piece than a luxury like it seemed a few weeks back. He took visits to SMU, Penn State, and Texas in subsequent weeks, with this decision coming down to the Longhorns and Nittany Lions. Obviously, Penn State came out on top with McGee making the call for the Nittany Lions earlier this evening.

I feel like I have said this a lot this cycle, but despite the three-star ratings from On3 and 247, McGee is a supremely talented prospect. You don’t get down to a final two of Penn State and Texas — where he was a take, it was a committable offer — by lacking talent. So on one hand I do expect McGee’s ranking to rise in the coming weeks and months. He has premier length for the position at 6-foot-1 and ran a 10.5 flat 100M recently. For reference, Journey Brown ran a 10.42 as a senior so McGee can absolutely fly. But McGee is a raw prospect who will probably need some seasoning both technically and physically, as he’s just 175 pounds right now. Still, he’s a great piece of clay as a corner prospect, and I’m not one to bet against Terry Smith.

Also, I know the vibes around recruiting have been a bit up and down in recent weeks, most notably with Jamir Dean flipping to Georgia, Deshawn Hall going with Auburn, and Khalil Taylor seemingly holding an auction for his college football services. But it has not been all bad. Beating out Florida for defensive Elijah Guertin was a very impressive victory. Beating out Oklahoma for an Oklahoma kid (and legacy!) in Case Alexander was even more impressive. And now, going into Texas and beating out the Longhorns for a kid they wanted. Not to divulge paywall info, but the Texas message boards thought this was going to be Texas as of early this morning. So three really impressive recruiting wins in the last 10 days — not too shabby.

Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 175 poundsHometown/High School: DeSoto, TX (DeSoto H.S.)Ranking: ★★★ (89 Rivals — No. 54 cornerback)Notable Offers: Texas…

[5
7,49,48,54434
post-928249","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ncaa-football","tag-football","tag-ncaa","tag-ncaa-football","tag-penn-state-recruiting
["GET
