The Chicago Bears<\/a> are preparing for the 2026 season. The team has to feel good after a super impressive 2025 season, and they have their eyes set on a Super Bowl run in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The team didn’t make any crazy moves this offseason, mostly keeping the status quo. Safety Coby Bryant, linebacker Devin Bush, and wide receiver Kalif Raymond are among the top additions the team made. If there’s one area the team still could use some help, it’s the pass rush.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, Montez Sweat had 10 sacks for the Bears<\/a>, but nobody else had more than six. The team didn’t add to the room this offseason, instead relying on development from young players like Shemar Turner and Austin Booker.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Luckily, there’s a reliable edge rusher on the trade block who could be a perfect fit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bears should trade for Josh Sweat<\/p>\n

Josh Sweat just signed a four-year, $76 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> last season. Sweat played in all 17 games for the Cardinals in 2025 and collected 30 tackles, 12 sacks, and 13 tackles for loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite that impressive production, the Cardinals were one of the worst teams in the league, and Sweat is unhappy. Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors<\/a> recently identified the Bears<\/a> as a logical landing spot for Sweat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“A trade to corner two-thirds of the NFL market on Sweats would give the Bears much more stability and proven production at edge rusher,” Ulrich wrote.<\/p>\n

“It would also be good for both players to be able to play off of each other instead of absorbing the extra attention from opposing offenses as the clear No. 1 pass rushers. As the Bears look to take another leap to rea-deal Super Bowl contenders, this is a move they could explore to take them there.”<\/p>\n

As Ulrich mentioned, this deal would make a ton of sense for the Bears if they’re serious about making the leap to Super Bowl contenders. Montez and Josh combined for 22 sacks last season, so putting them together would give Chicago one of the best edge rusher combos in the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sweat won’t be cheap, as the Cardinals will definitely want a decent return for their star. However, if Sweat isn’t happy, the Cardinals really may not have much of a choice but to move him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Can Bears compete in 2026?\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bears surprised many in 2025- was that a fluke or will they be able to repeat in 2026? Well, the NFC North isn’t going to be an easy division to win. The Packers<\/a> and Lions<\/a> also figure to be contenders, and you can’t count out the Vikings<\/a> with a new quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Caleb Williams proved that he was a franchise quarterback in 2025. With Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Colston Loveland to throw to, there’s no reason to think Williams can’t have another elite season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If the Bears trade for Sweat, you can feel even more confident in them contending in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n
