Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin has struggled to get consistent playing time in Denver despite a promising rookie season as an undrafted free agent. Now he\u2019s buried even further on the depth chart than last year. He explained why he chose to re-sign in Denver.<\/p>\n
\u201cMan, I love it here,\u201d McLaughlin said, via Broncos Wire<\/a>. \u201cI love being here in Denver and playing with this team. I love our offensive line, I love our quarterbacks, I love our receivers, I love our running back room, I love our defense\u2026 I want to win here. I told Coach (Sean) Payton I want to win here.\u201d<\/p>\n Mike McDaniel embarks on his first season as the Chargers\u2019 offensive coordinator following his time as the Dolphins\u2019 head coach. McDaniel thinks he\u2019s entering an offense he\u2019s not trying to overfix and that they have a \u201ctop-tier\u201d quarterback in Justin Herbert<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I was trying fix something that was like, \u2018This is broke,’\u201d McDaniel said, via Eric Smith of the team\u2019s site<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re looking at a player that is very, very talented and top tier in achievement his whole career. [We want to] try to take him to the next level where he can own certain things and really get the ball to his teammates as fast as possible and help efficiency of the offense.\u201d<\/p>\n McDaniel said he asked Herbert to switch his front foot to his left foot, and the quarterback was very receptive.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t mandate it, but with Justin I really just showed him where I thought it would be advantageous,\u201d McDaniel said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t blink for a second and was excited to attack it. When you have players like that that go after their craft in that way, you can do things, change things that have been standardized in their game for years and you can do it with reasonable expectations and higher performance.\u201d<\/p>\n Herbert said he\u2019s \u201cjumped on board\u201d with McDaniel\u2019s instructions.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cMike just talked about how he saw the quarterback position being played and why he thought that was the best way,\u201d Herbert said. \u201cJumped on board and got as many reps as we could and it\u2019s been going good so far.\u201d<\/p>\n The Chiefs feel that RB Kenneth Walker<\/a> will complete their offense, and he is already drawing praise from G Trey Smith<\/a> and QB Patrick Mahomes<\/a> during offseason workouts.<\/p>\n \u201cDefinitely excited to work with K9,\u201d Smith said of Walker, via Nate Taylor of ESPN.com<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s awesome, man. Another West Tennessee native, so that\u2019s cool to have one of those guys back there. I know he\u2019s tough.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou can tell he truly cares about football, he cares about his teammates,\u201d Mahomes added. \u201cIf he\u2019s not in the play, he\u2019s helping the guys on the sideline and he\u2019s trying to learn and [is] asking me questions.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a beast, seeing him run the ball,\u201d S Alohi Gilman<\/a> noted. \u201cI\u2019ve got a lot of respect for guys like that. They\u2019re just about their business. I think it\u2019ll bring a good energy to this offense.
