A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article, but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for July 3.

Heidenreich’s ‘Pinch Me’ Moment

On Thursday, Altoona, Pa.-based WTAJ-TV aired a package on Pittsburgh Steelers rookie RB Eli Heidenreich. Much of the story covered well-known ground. His time at Navy, getting drafted by Pittsburgh in his home city, and Mike McCarthy’s initial impressions.

Heidenreich also acknowledged his NFL “pinch me” moment.

“It’s funny. I was sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch a week or two ago,” he told WTAJ during spring workouts. “I was naturally referring to guys with their full name. First and last instead of just first. One of the guys said, ‘You can just say their first name.’ I was like, ‘You’re right.’ Just growing up as a fan, you refer to them as first and last. That was funny to me.”

Now, Heidenreich knows them all on a first-name basis, including QB Aaron Rodgers. Heidenreich grew up watching Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers beat the Steelers in the 2010 Super Bowl.

Check out the full story below.

We’re sorry, the video cannot be played with adblocker enabled.

Please disable your adblocker and refresh the page, or go ad-free!

Gainwell’s Catch

In one last 2025 rewind, the NFL ranked the best catches from last season. Running back Kenneth Gainwell grabbed the third spot for his sensational touchdown grab against the Detroit Lions. An incredible play of getting interfered with, falling down, finding and catching the ball, and having the IQ to race into the end zone.

The only two rated higher were Puka Nacua’s grab against the Carolina Panthers and Treylon Burks’ touchdown snag versus the Denver Broncos.

Gainwell signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.

Matt Miller Investigation

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller has made plenty of headlines the past several weeks. He was severely injured in a June car accident that led to his left arm being amputated. Police reports indicate Miller drifted into oncoming traffic and his Ford Bronco was hit by a semi-truck. The truck driver was not injured.

A relative of Miller’s set up a GoFundMe that as of Thursday evening had raised over $50,000 (Update: The GoFundMe has since been paused). But the outpouring of well-wishes has quickly pivoted to scrutiny. Citing a Reddit thread from May prior to Miller’s accident, he’s been credibly accused of not paying out money owed in charity fantasy football leagues he’s run.

There are also questions if Miller donated money to charity and the legitimacy of his foundation before it shut down. Now, per Awful Announcing, the Missouri Attorney General has opened an investigation into the matter.

Miller has yet to respond to the allegations against him. Per Awful Announcing’s investigation, Miller asked for questions to be responded to via email but did not reply by the time the site posted its initial story.

A Steelers Depot daily segment.
