Unbeaten in the regular season. Maple Cup winners. Northeast Division Champions. On Sunday, the Vermont Green Women head to the USL W League Eastern Conference Final, hoping to add another accomplishment to their historic season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Less than 48 hours after a trio of goals toppled the Long Island Rough Riders, the Green head to the Conference Final on Sunday, July 5 at 6pm where they will face Eagle FC from Central Pennsylvania. The winner will be crowned Eastern Conference Champions and punch their ticket to the USLW National Semifinals. <\/p>\n
EAGLE FC IN FOCUS<\/p>\n
Standing between the Green and the USL W Semifinal is Eagle FC, champions of the Mid-Atlantic Division.<\/p>\n
Eagle FC were founded in 1976, and joined USLW in 2023. In their inaugural USLW season, they made it to the National Semifinal. They have won their division 4-times in a row, every season since joining the league. In 2026, they finished with a 9W-0D-1L record. In 10 regular season matches this year, Eagle FC scored 48 goals and conceded only six.<\/p>\n
Their best result of the regular season was a 13-0 victory over Patuxent Football Athletics on June 14. After a comfortable ascension to the top of the Mid-Atlantic Division, Eagle FC traveled to Burlington for the Eastern Conference Playoffs. On Friday night, they faced off against Virginia Development Academy and narrowly beat them by a score of 1-0. It was a tightly-contested match, with the match winner not coming until deep into the second half.<\/p>\n
ALL TO PLAY FOR<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s match holds the promise of a trophy and another laurel added to an already historic season for the Vermont Green Women. But perhaps equally as important: the chance for more time together. The Green have spent two months together, and they don\u2019t want it to end on Sunday. There\u2019s everything to play for, and Abby Carchio\u2019s squad are ready to fight for it with everything they\u2019ve got.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce again our team proved that when we stick together and play The Green Way, anything is possible,\u201d said captain Chloe Gorman. \u201cA big second half win gives us the momentum and confidence for Sunday. With a quick turnaround, it\u2019s important for us to focus on recovery and stick to what we know. Once again the fans gave us the extra energy in the heat, and they will be so important Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n
