Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson will not face criminal charges over allegations he got physical with his pregnant girlfriend<\/a> \u2014 at least, not now.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ivor Pine, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney\u2019s Office, said in a message to The California Post on Tuesday that prosecutors have opted to not file a case against Jackson<\/a> \u201cat this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis matter has been assigned for a City Attorney Hearing, a pre-filing diversion available to eligible individuals that is an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution,\u201d Pine said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCharges are not filed<\/a> against the respondent at this time, however, the case stays open throughout the length of the statute of limitations. It can be re-evaluated if there are further developments.\u201d<\/p>\n

The City Attorney\u2019s website describes a City Attorney Hearing as a \u201can informal proceeding that is conducted as an alternative to a misdemeanor criminal prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Its goal, according to the site, \u201cis to develop alternative resolution in cases where a crime has been committed but prosecution may be inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n

An investigation into a biting incident involving Jackson\u2019s Rams teammate<\/a>, Puka Nacua, reached the same resolution earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jackson faced the possibility of misdemeanor charges<\/a> after he was arrested in early June over allegations he attacked his pregnant ex during a dispute over a phone at their West Hills residence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The woman initially obtained a temporary restraining order <\/a>against Jackson on June 10, but her attorney told a judge last week<\/a> she wanted that dissolved. The case was then promptly disposed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
