Training camp is just around the corner, but there’s still time for the Falcons to make a move or two before players report to the team’s training facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia.<\/p>\n
In today’s Falcons Wire<\/a> Recap, Bleacher Report identifies a potential trade target in the AFC, ESPN predicts the winner of two key position battles, and NFL.com roasts the NFC South.<\/p>\n Broncos WR Marvin Mims Jr. named Falcons trade target<\/p>\n Bleacher Report<\/a>‘s Moe Moton suggested one trade for all 32 NFL teams ahead in 2026. For the Falcons, B\/R listed Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. as an ideal trade target.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n “Denver acquired Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin have a strong rapport with quarterback Bo Nix,” wrote Moton<\/a>. “The coaching staff could look to further develop second-year wideout Pat Bryant. Mims knows this year could be his last in Denver. Atlanta can speed up the process and acquire him to address a glaring roster need.”<\/p>\n ESPN predicts Tua will start at QB<\/p>\n As we get closer to training camp, more and more national analysts are picking Tua Tagovailoa to win the Falcons’ quarterback competition. For ESPN’<\/a>s Marc Raimondi, it simply comes down to the health factor.<\/p>\n “Penix impressed a lot of people this spring by just how far along he was — and how comfortable he looked on the field in individual drills and 7-on-7 sessions,” wrote Raimondi<\/a>. “He has done this twice before with the other knee, after all, so this is not a foreign process to him. But it’s still impossible to know when he’ll be fully cleared for everything, including 11-on-11 team sessions. And until that happens,\u00a0Tua Tagovailoa\u00a0has to be considered the starter.”<\/p>\n NFC South ranked worst division in NFL<\/p>\n NFL.com<\/a>\u00a0ranked all eight divisions ahead of the 2026 season, and I’ll bet you guess where the NFC South landed. Considering the Carolina Panthers won the division with an 8-9 record, it should come as no surprise that the NFC South was ranked dead last.<\/p>\n “Kevin Stefanski moved from Cleveland to Atlanta, taking over a team in need of an offensive spark — and a concrete answer at quarterback,”\u00a0wrote Nick Shook<\/a>. “Michael Penix Jr. is still returning from injury and isn’t guaranteed to be ready for Week 1, leaving room for offseason addition Tua Tagovailoa to attempt his best Sam Darnold impression following an ugly exit from Miami. Stefanski will have to solve — and most likely manage — the quarterback situation before pushing the Falcons forward.”<\/p>\n ESPN predicts Falcons’ starting linebacker<\/p>\n Quarterback isn’t the only position with question marks. There’s still some uncertainty over who will start next to Divine Deablo at linebacker. According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, veteran Christian Harris appears to be the early favorite.<\/p>\n “If practices during OTAs and minicamp are any indication, Christian Harris seems like the favorite at inside linebacker, alongside Divine Deablo,” wrote Raimondi<\/a>. “Harris was signed from the Houston Texans. He started 27 games in four seasons and was considered a prospect who didn’t completely fulfill his potential because of calf and ankle injuries.”<\/p>\n
