{"id":946851,"date":"2026-07-16T06:30:25","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/946851\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T06:30:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:30:25","slug":"patrick-mahomes-optimisitic-about-week-1-goal-in-chiefs-injury-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/946851\/","title":{"rendered":"Patrick Mahomes optimisitic about Week 1 &#8216;goal&#8217; in Chiefs injury recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Consider Patrick Mahomes an optimist regarding his injury timeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/14\/sports\/patrick-mahomes-tears-acl-in-injury-crusher-with-chiefs-playoff-hopes-over\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suffering a torn ACL<\/a> in a Week 15 loss to the Chargers last season, the two-time NFL MVP said he\u2019s on track to be ready for the Chiefs\u2019 Week 1 game against the Broncos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my goal,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl\/article\/chiefs-patrick-mahomes-eyeing-week-1-return-vs-broncos-i-dont-want-to-miss-that-game-155509419.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mahomes told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve said that since the beginning is being ready to go Week 1. I can\u2019t predict the future and I know that it\u2019s a long process. It\u2019s not just my decision, but at the same time I\u2019m going to give the doctors and the coaches every single opportunity I can to let me be out there Week 1.<\/p>\n<p>Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes throws a pass. Icon Sportswire via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the season ended, it was just about getting back out there and try and do whatever I can to be able to participate in OTAs, which I did, and be ready to go for training camp,\u201d Mahomes added. \u201cI know it\u2019s a long process, but you have these end goals. I\u2019m just trying to achieve those end goals by dominating every single day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had a great recovery program going these last few months and we\u2019re in a good spot.
