The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have a final answer on who’s playing quarterback next season, but if it comes down to rookie Will Howard, some feel like the team is in great hands.<\/p>\n

The Steelers are still playing the long waiting game with free agent veteran Aaron Rodgers, who has yet to sign a contract to wear the black and gold in 2025.<\/p>\n

There’s a chance that he won’t. Which means the team would have to find an answer elsewhere – perhaps a trade for Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins – or rely on Howard.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report’s James Palmer thinks that Howard’s upside is so high, he compared him to a Super Bowl-winning quarterback in the state of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

“Will Howard has some traits that some people really, really liked in this draft,” Palmer said<\/a>. “Big, strong, athletic guy. There was one comment that I thought was interesting. Somebody compared him, when I was talking in the draft process, to Jalen Hurts. Just kind of in terms of the physicality and the size he can run with. I think Hurts is a better athlete out in space, but I just thought that was interesting that somebody brought that up.”<\/p>\n

The Steelers picked up Howard in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft with the No. 185 overall pick. If he can turn into anything close to Hurts, a second-round pick in 2020, then Pittsburgh will have found a gem in the late rounds.<\/p>\n

He could also make Steelers fans forget that they ever thought about signing Rodgers.<\/p>\n
