INTERSTATE INPUT: The Tennessee Department of Transportation will hold two public meetings next week as it launches a study to consider improvements to the city\u2019s interstate highways (40, 65, 24 and 440). The Planning and Environmental Linkages study<\/a> aims to improve planning and speed up planned changes. The meetings will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Tennessee State University (New Residence Hall, FIS Room, Room 1201) and from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Trevecca Nazarene University (Benson Auditorium, McClurkan Hall). Identical information will be presented at each, both of which will be conducted in an open-house style format. For those unable to attend the meetings, public comment will be accepted until Aug. 11 at the study website<\/a>, by email at NashInnerLoopPEL@publicinput.com, or via recorded message at 855-925-2801 (Project Code 10228). \u2014 David Boclair<\/p>\n

IN THE RING: The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that former running back Chris Johnson will be added to the team\u2019s Ring of Honor this fall. The formal installation will take place during the Week 1 game against the New York Jets at Nissan Stadium. The 40-year-old who retired after the 2017 season attracted national attention recently when he announced he is dealing with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease. Johnson is the franchise\u2019s fourth all-time leading rusher with 7,965 yards in three seasons. \u201cHis stats speak for themselves, and he will forever remain a leader in our record books, but the man behind the yardage deserves just as much celebration,\u201d controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a release. Johnson will be the 20th inductee into the ring and will be followed by former coach and broadcaster Dave McGinnis, who will be added later in the season. \u2014 David Boclair<\/p>\n
