The Seattle Seahawks<\/a>\u2019 first appearance on HBO\u2019s \u201cHard Knocks\u201d is moving closer, and fans now have their most revealing preview of the series.<\/p>\n HBO released the official trailer for \u201cHard Knocks: Training Camp<\/a> with the Seattle Seahawks\u201d on July 21, providing a first look at how NFL<\/a> Films will document head coach Mike Macdonald and the reigning Super Bowl champions as they prepare to defend their title.<\/p>\n The five-episode series will premiere Tuesday, August 11, at 9 p.m. Eastern on HBO and HBO Max. New installments will air on subsequent Tuesdays before the finale on September 8.<\/p>\n The trailer begins with Seattle\u2019s championship celebration before quickly turning the page toward the challenge facing Macdonald\u2019s team.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have done it through our mentality of every freaking day,\u201d Macdonald tells his players in the trailer. \u201cNext year, that\u2019s what it\u2019s gonna take.\u201d<\/p>\n That shift from celebration to pursuit appears positioned to drive the entire season.<\/p>\n Mike Macdonald Sets the Tone in Seahawks Trailer<\/p>\n The most prominent voice in the trailer belongs to Macdonald, who repeatedly emphasizes improvement, aggression and the collective identity that helped Seattle win the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s go figure out how to get better from last year,\u201d Macdonald says. \u201cWe\u2019re just gonna keep attacking. Twelve as one, okay? It\u2019s a relentless attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n Those comments provide a clear preview of the tension NFL Films can explore throughout training camp.<\/p>\n Seattle is no longer trying to establish whether Macdonald\u2019s program can produce a contender. The Seahawks must now determine whether the same approach can withstand heightened expectations, increased attention and every opponent\u2019s best effort.<\/p>\n That makes this version of \u201cHard Knocks\u201d different from the traditional rebuilding-team story.<\/p>\n The Seahawks are the first reigning Super Bowl champions to appear on the training-camp edition since the series began with the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> in 2001. It will also be the franchise\u2019s first appearance on the long-running HBO program.<\/p>\n Rather than following a team attempting to discover its identity, NFL Films will document one trying to protect it.<\/p>\n HBO Will Follow Seahawks\u2019 Championship Defense<\/p>\n The series is expected to feature several of Seattle\u2019s most recognizable figures, including quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba<\/a> and defensive standouts Devon Witherspoon and Byron Murphy II.<\/p>\n The trailer also points toward the offseason work performed by president of football operations and general manager John Schneider. One narrator references the \u201cbig moves\u201d made by Schneider and the organization, indicating that Seattle\u2019s roster decisions will form part of the story.<\/p>\n Training camp should offer NFL Films considerably more than championship nostalgia.<\/p>\n The Seahawks entered camp with questions about how Darnold will follow his Super Bowl season, whether first-round running back Jadarian Price<\/a> can earn a major role and which players will emerge from several roster competitions. Seattle\u2019s official site identified Darnold\u2019s encore and Price\u2019s opportunity as two of the team\u2019s central camp storylines.<\/p>\n The cameras could also capture some difficult decisions.
