Despite trading for old friend Geno Smith<\/a> and drafting Clemson standout Cade Klubnik, CBS Sports believes the Jets apparently have the league\u2019s second-worst quarterback situation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Only Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and the Browns finished lower on Jordan Dajani\u2019s list<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n That\u2019s right. The Jets have a worse quarterback situation than the Cardinals, Dolphins, Falcons, or Steelers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Alright then.\u00a0<\/p>\n Debunking CBS Sports\u2019 latest criticism of Geno Smith and the New York Jets<\/p>\n Incredibly, Dajani ranked the Jets so low despite extensively praising the Jets\u2019 offense.\u00a0<\/p>\n In fact, he cited the Raiders\u2019 disastrous personnel for Smith\u2019s lackluster 2025 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cHe flailed behind a bad offensive line and with subpar weaponry, which is actually a reason to be optimistic in 2026,\u201d Dajai wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n So we should be optimistic about Smith<\/a>, but the Jets have the NFL\u2019s second-worst quarterback room.\u00a0<\/p>\n What am I missing? I must be missing something.\u00a0<\/p>\n How can anyone realistically argue the Dolphins\u2019 duo of the untested Malik Willis and 2025 seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers is better than Smith, Klubnik, and Bailey Zappe<\/a>?<\/p>\n What about the Steelers, who didn\u2019t even crack Dajani\u2019s list? Watching Aaron Rodgers is painful, and Mason Rudolph is a borderline average backup<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n But the Jets are the Jets, so they must suffer even if the author gushes about Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and the rest of Smith\u2019s new toys.\u00a0<\/p>\n CBS Sports clearly cannot be objective about the Jets<\/p>\n If it feels like we\u2019re picking on CBS Sports, let\u2019s look at some of their recent Jets coverage:<\/p>\n The outlet previously suggested that Wilson could ask for a trade<\/a> when there is no evidence that he\u2019s even considering such a move.\u00a0A nine-man panel ranked the trio of Smith, Hall, and Wilson as the league\u2019s fourth-worst.\u00a0Wilson was not among the 13 receivers<\/a> who made the Top 100 players list.\u00a0Dajani recently wrote<\/a> that Aaron Glenn has the hottest seat of any head coach.\u00a0<\/p>\n Of those various takes, the only one I agree with is Glenn having an extremely hot seat.\u00a0<\/p>\n But as for the rest? I guess playing for the Jets comes with a green-and-white scarlet letter.\u00a0<\/p>\n How can an outlet say so many good things about an offense, explicitly use the term \u201coptimistic,\u201d and then still rank the quarterback room No. 31?<\/p>\n I don\u2019t get it.\u00a0<\/p>\n Perhaps the worst part is that we\u2019re not even at training camp yet. Who knows what CBS Sports\u2019 next issue with the Jets will be?<\/p>\n My guess: They\u2019ll be accused of charging too much for snacks at open practices. <\/p>\n
