OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The fifth annual youth football Gorilla Wideouts Camp was held at Millard South on July 11.<\/p>\n
The event is run by New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach Keith Williams, a former Nebraska assistant coach from 2015-17.<\/p>\n
\u201cI met a lot of great people in Nebraska, particularly here in Omaha and Lincoln, but I\u2019ve always had love for Lincoln and love for Nebraska itself,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI met a lot of good people who love wideout play. I do too, so I love coming back and doing this camp.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each year, Williams has brought NFL players both from his receiver room with the Saints, along with others he is connected to.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very fulfilling, gratifying,\u201d Williams said. \u201cThe guys I can bring back, they feel that way too even as young players in the NFL, so it all works out.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year, the guest coaches group included former Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer, who broke the program\u2019s single-season receiving yards record (1,043) during his one season with the Huskers in 2022.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a no doubt,\u201d Palmer said of participating in the camp. \u201cI knew he had a camp because I had heard about it, but it was a no doubt that I was coming back to Nebraska, to GBR. This is like a home to me. It\u2019s just a blessing to be out here and give back to the kids because once they was me going to camps.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former Iowa cornerback TJ Hall, who was drafted by the Saints in the seventh round this year, and fourth-round wide receiver draft pick Bryce Lance also attended the camp.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were back in New Orleans and we were just chopping it up and he was asking me what I was doing over break,\u201d Hall said. \u201cI was like, \u2018Man, I\u2019m going to be back in Iowa.\u2019 He was like, \u2018Man, come through and do my camp in Nebraska.\u2019 It\u2019s awesome. Whenever you can give back to the kids or anybody, it\u2019s an awesome thing and it\u2019s a blessing that we\u2019re able to even be out here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always good to give back, absolutely,\u201d Lance added. \u201cAnd I think coaches like coach Williams doing these things like this, it\u2019s a really special opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Palmer, the chance to return to Nebraska and give back in the state where he had a breakout season was meaningful.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing back in Nebraska and GBR, I just love it here,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s just that atmosphere out here that I always love and it\u2019s like a home to me, like I always say.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Saints signed Palmer off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August 2025. He missed the entire regular season with an ankle injury and was placed on injured reserve in October.<\/p>\n
Now healthy, Williams said Palmer has been a valuable addition to the Saints\u2019 receiver room.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrey is awesome,\u201d Williams said. \u201cHe\u2019s a good player, he\u2019s very talented, he\u2019s eager, he\u2019s a grinder, so I\u2019m looking forward to seeing what he can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
