NFLPA investigating injury that ended Nic Scourton\u2019s season at Panthers training camp<\/p>\n

The review centers on the NFL\u2019s collective bargaining agreement, which prohibits live contact during the first week of training camp.<\/p>\n

The NFL Players Association is investigating the season-ending ACL injury Nic Scourton suffered on the first day of Carolina Panthers training camp, head coach Dave Canales confirmed Sunday.<\/p>\n

The review centers on the NFL\u2019s collective bargaining agreement, which prohibits live contact during the first week of training camp.<\/p>\n

The Panthers are cooperating with the union\u2019s investigation. The team believes Scourton\u2019s injury was a freak accident on a wet field rather than the result of an unobserved practice rule, a view shared by Panthers players.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened was just a freak accident, and I feel so bad for the kid because he worked his butt off this offseason,\u201d tight end Tommy Tremble said. \u201cI think this was going to be his best year yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tremble said he did not believe the injury was caused by the intensity of the practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it was anything on anyone\u2019s tempo,\u201d Tremble said. \u201cEveryone\u2019s just trying to get better every day. It was just an unfortunate thing to happen at practice. It kind of sucked the life out of us when we saw it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
