My feet are here today. If I’m somewhere else next week, the week after, that’s kind of what it is. That’s the business. But I’m taking every day, day by day, not thinking about what’s next.”

Asked whether he believes he is on the trade block, Boutte deferred to head coach Mike Vrabel and the Patriots’ front office.

“I don’t know,” he said. “That might be a Vrabes question, or an anybody question.”

Later, Boutte replied, “Yeah,” when asked if he wants to remain in New England this season.

Thursday was a quieter day for Boutte (zero targets in team drills), but he was one of the top performers in each of the first three camp practices, hauling in a slew of deep-ball touchdowns from quarterback Drake Maye. Over those three days, he was the most consistent member of a revamped position group that added projected starters Romeo Doubs (in free agency) and A.J. Brown (via trade) this offseason.

Vrabel said Boutte’s approach has been “exactly the same as last year,” when the 24-year-old caught 33 passes for 551 yards and a career-high six touchdowns while starting 10 games. Boutte posted similar numbers the previous season (43-589-3, 13 starts) after catching just two passes as a sixth-round rookie in 2023.

“He’s very professional, ready to go, knows what to do and takes advantage of his opportunities,” Vrabel said Thursday morning. “It’s been great to see him show up and be productive early in camp, just as he was last year. I have a lot of respect for him, and I’ve told him that. I’m excited he’s gotten off to a good start.”

Vrabel later added, however, that the team would be open to trading a receiver while it pares down its roster.

“I love having depth, but I would say that we’re always going to try to look to improve, whether that’s by adding draft capital, obtaining a player or keeping the guys we have,” he said. “We want to try to provide competition throughout the roster at each position. I think that’s something that’s critical. I think that’s what good teams do every year, year in and year out, that they’re making the roster as competitive as possible.”

Currently, wideout is one of the Patriots’ deepest positions. Along with Brown, Doubs and Boutte, the team also has returning contributors Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism and Kyle Williams on its 90-man roster, plus undrafted rookies Kyle Dixon, Nick DeGennaro, Kobe Prentice and Cameron Dorner. Most teams only carry five or six receivers during the season, meaning there could be an odd man out among New England’s veterans.

Trading Boutte could ease that roster crunch while also netting the Patriots some draft capital. But that would also mean losing a player who was one of Maye’s more reliable targets last season.

“Regardless of where I’m at, I still got to prove it,” Boutte said. “You hear the talk online, everything like that. Every year, I’ve been proving, so I feel like everybody say a lot of stuff, and then it backfire. It’s kind of the story of my life.”

Boutte also is motivated to produce this season as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.

“I mean, truth be told, I think if you was in a contract year at your reporting job, you’d kind of want that to be your best year,” he said when asked whether his contract status gives him “extra motivation.” “So whatever that looks like for me, we’ll look at all the options and see what the best position is.”

FOXBORO — Kayshon Boutte has seen the trade rumors.
