<\/a>GREEN BAY, Wis. \u2014<\/p>\nWith Josh Jacobs sidelined by a groin injury Thursday, MarShawn Lloyd got an extended look with the Packers\u2019 first-team offense.<\/p>\n
The third-year running back made the most of the opportunity, scoring a pair of touchdowns during Green Bay\u2019s closed practice before celebrating one of them with a backflip.<\/p>\n
Head coach Matt LaFleur quickly put an end to that part of the celebration, telling Lloyd not to do any more flips. For a player whose first two NFL seasons have been derailed by injuries and illness, the Packers would rather keep him on the field.<\/p>\n
Quarterback Jordan Love said a healthy Lloyd gives Green Bay another explosive option in the offense.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean he just adds another playmaker, obviously very fast, very twitchy and the things he can do,\u201d Love said. \u201cI think, you know, seeing more and more out of him in the passing game as well. It’s one of those things we’re just gonna keep building with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lloyd has had little opportunity to show that ability in regular-season games.<\/p>\n
Green Bay selected him in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft with the 88th overall pick. He appeared in just one game as a rookie, recording six carries for 15 yards and one catch for 3 yards before landing on injured reserve. He was later activated but went on the non-football illness list after developing appendicitis.<\/p>\n
Injuries again wiped out his 2025 season, keeping him from appearing in a regular-season game.<\/p>\n
That history makes availability one of the biggest factors for Lloyd as he tries to carve out a larger role behind Jacobs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he’s going to be a great addition,\u201d Love said. \u201cIt’s just staying healthy.\u201d <\/p>\n
