The Jacksonville Jaguars held their annual Teal and White mock game at the Miller Electric Center on Friday morning, a two-and-a-half hour padded session that served as the most game-like look at this roster yet in the 2026 preseason. The day produced some significant individual performances, a handful of injury concerns, and a slightly clearer picture of where a few roster battles stand heading into the team\u2019s upcoming stretch of three joint practices.<\/p>\n

The injury and availability picture ended up being much more complicated than expected before the first snap was taken. Left tackle Cole Van Lanen and Garrett DiGiorgio remained on the Active\/Physically Unable to Perform list.<\/p>\n

Head coach Liam Coen confirmed after practice that Josh Hines-Allen was limited with routine load management at this stage of camp rather than anything injury-related. Starting right guard Patrick Mekari, who has been brought along slowly throughout camp, did not participate in team periods, and rookie lineman Emmanuel Pregnon, who was reportedly hobbled during Thursday\u2019s practice, also wasn\u2019t seen early.<\/p>\n

The most dominant individual performance of the entire scrimmage belonged to B.J. Green II, and it was not particularly close. Green opened the day with a tackle for a loss, then followed it immediately with a sack on the very next play. After Dennis Gardeck added a sack in between, Green came back and recorded a second on the following drive. By the time the padded sessions wrapped up, Green had four sacks and a tackle for a loss, primarily against Jimto Obidegwu. His performance on Day 8 was the most emphatic individual statement any player in camp has made about his role on this roster.<\/p>\n

Rookie edge Zach Durfee had a significant day as well, beating Walker Little off the edge for a would-be sack on the very first play of the mock game – the play that ended Little\u2019s participation for the afternoon. He later added a second sack against Wyatt Milum on third down, giving him two on the day and continuing a camp-long trend of the seventh-round rookie from Washington making it impossible to overlook him in the pass rush rotation. Coen lauded both young rushers following the scrimmage:<\/p>\n

\u201dThey\u2019ve continued to do that throughout the course of the last few practices, and Durf had a good rush the other day, backed up. It would\u2019ve been a 99-yard touchdown; it ended up being probably a safety. So, he\u2019s showing up. B.J.\u2018s continued to show up in both the run and the pass. So, I\u2019ve been pleased with those guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

I also noted Dennis Gardeck with two sacks to round out the group, in a dominant day against the Jaguars\u2019 offensive line group.<\/p>\n

OL Rotation Into Question<\/p>\n

The previously mentioned non-participation list grew even larger in Friday\u2019s session, as Walker Little went down on the very first play of the mock game without returning. Chuma Edoga, who stepped in as the swing tackle, was hobbled following his own opening play, before eventually working his way back into the practice.<\/p>\n

Little\u2019s departure on the opening play represents the latest complication in what has been an unsettled situation at tackle throughout camp. He had been working at right tackle while Anton Harrison occupied the left tackle spot, an arrangement that has drawn major attention<\/a> over the past week. His availability moving forward, and the depth questions that follow on both the left and right side could become more pressing. Coen confirmed that Little would be evaluated following practice, while providing no new updates, from the practice fields.<\/p>\n

With Mekari, Pregnon, Little, and Edoga all either unavailable or limited on Friday, the Jaguars worked through multiple combinations along the front five. The primary look featured Anton Harrison at left tackle, Ezra Cleveland at left guard, and Robert Hainsey at center, with Jonah Monheim at right guard, and Wyatt Milum at right tackle.<\/p>\n

Monheim\u2019s performance was an unexpectedly clean performance, with no clear sacks or pressures surrendered in pass protection, while Milum worked at both right tackle and right guard, experiencing a rough early stretch that included a false start and the Durfee sack before stabilizing and finishing the day on a considerably stronger note. The right guard competition between Milum and Mekari is one to watch closely over the coming stretch of joint practices. Milum has earned consistent first-team reps throughout camp in Mekari\u2019s absence, and the experience he accumulates before Mekari returns to full participation will carry real weight in how that competition ultimately resolves.<\/p>\n

Lawrence Sharp When It Counted<\/p>\n

Lawrence had a quiet opening before finding his rhythm as the session developed. He connected with Parker Washington twice during the third drive and was consistently accurate in the intermediate range, the 15 to 25-yard window, throughout the day. The biggest blemish was an early end zone pass toward Brian Thomas Jr. that nearly resulted in an interception, with cornerback Keni H Lovely getting both hands on the ball before letting it fall incomplete. Jalen Huskey was also in the area on that play. Liam Coen addressed the sequence after practice, describing it as a communication and timing issue between Lawrence and Thomas:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the time to do it, is to challenge some of your concepts and timing. I think that he [QB Trevor Lawrence] probably wanted to getthere a little quicker when he did. So, it was one of those plays that B.T. can go to the postor he can go behind the defender and stay there. And I think it was just a little bit of amiscommunication, from that standpoint, from the leverage and technique that I think it was Keni [CB Keni-H Lovely] was playing at corner. I don\u2019t love the long foul ball, just like toss it up and see what happens. And I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what it was. It was more of a miscommunication that those guys will get right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The other miss was a late practice overthrow to Jakobi Meyers on a 40-yard deep ball inside the hashes. Lawrence bounced back on the same drive as the missed Meyers\u2019 target, finishing it with a back-shoulder throw to Brian Thomas Jr. in the red zone for a touchdown, however.<\/p>\n

Parker\u2019s Down There Somewhere<\/p>\n

Washington was easily the starting offense\u2019s most consistent playmaker on Friday. Whenever the office needed a play it was Washington who got the team on track. A 35-yard catch and run provided the spark the first-team unit needed early, finding the spot within the zone.<\/p>\n

He later capped the drive with a two-yard contested touchdown catch over cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, after a 15-yard reception to enter the redzone. Washington continues to show himself as a key that opens up this offense.<\/p>\n

The individual play of the day, however, went to cornerback Buster Brown. On a Nick Mullens throw intended for running back J\u2019Mari Taylor deep down the field, Brown kept his eyes on the backup quarterback, then climbed the ladder in coverage, coming away with the athletic interception.<\/p>\n

The battle for the third safety position, a critical role in Campanile\u2019s three-safety (big-nickel) defensive packages, remains genuinely open. Second year safety Rayuan Lane tightly covered tight end Tanner Koziol with multiple quality reps in redzone. Caleb Ransaw turned in a pair of physical run stops during the red zone period. Jalen Huskey continued to work into the rotation, forcing an incompletion, which was nearly a fumble forced.<\/p>\n

All three players are making credible cases, and the competition heading into joint practices is as unsettled as it has been all camp.<\/p>\n

Fourth-year cornerback Christian Braswell has been active over the past few practices after limited early camp participation. Second year, UDFA cornerback Jabbar Muhammad\u2019s day was a mixed one: multiple competitive reps on the day, forcing an incompletion, while also giving up a two-yard touchdown to Parker Washington. Muhammad has made enough plays throughout camp to stay in the conversation, and how his special teams contributions weigh against Braswell\u2019s overall value will be one of the more interesting final roster decisions the organization faces.<\/p>\n

Screen Game Still In Progress<\/p>\n

While Liam Coen stated, following the scrimmage, that he was pleased with the effort and physicality his team showed on Friday, he acknowledged one specific area of emphasis heading into joint practices, screen execution, still needs more work. Multiple running back screens in the practice were blown up, incomplete, or went for minimal gain – a rollover issue from the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The team heads to New Orleans for a joint practice with the Saints on August 13 before their preseason opener a week from Saturday.
