We\u2019re a little more than a week away from the Seahawks\u2019 preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n
Thursday, the team had to take practice inside because of the smoke. Saturday, they will pack Lumen Field for the \u201cSeahawks\u2019 Football Fest\u201d.<\/p>\n
The event is an evening of football, family, and fun. Featuring meet-and-greets, photo-ops with franchise legends, a live DJ, and team mascots.<\/p>\n
And, of course, the players. <\/p>\n
Rashid Shaheed is going through his first training camp with the Hawks after joining the team midseason last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to see the energy of the fans,\u201d said the wide receiver. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be good to get back on home turf. And it\u2019s going to be a ton of good energy. We\u2019re all excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tickets are still available, and they\u2019re about $17 each. A family-friendly way to enjoy the Seahawks up close before the season kicks off.<\/p>\n
Gates open around 4:15 pm, and practice starts at 5:20 pm.<\/p>\n
Plus, there\u2019ll be an autographed football toss around 7:20 pm. <\/p>\n
However, while some of the younger players couldn\u2019t wait to get back in front of the 12\u2019s, one veteran admitted he was contemplating retirement this past offseason.<\/p>\n
Linebacker Demarcus Lawrence said last year if the Hawks won it all, he\u2019d hang up his cleats. <\/p>\n
But, after a Super Bowl ring, as well as a discussion with his wife, he\u2019s said he\u2019s back for a 13th season. Eager to defend the championship he\u2019d been chasing his whole career.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the type of team that we have\u2026we should\u2019ve been where we were last year,\u201d the veteran Linebacker calmly asserts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is where the hard part begins, staying on top.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lawrence admits winning the Lombardi Trophy was bittersweet. He says he couldn\u2019t walk away. He compared the situation to going from being the hunter chasing a goal to the hunted defending a title. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey say it\u2019s no fun when the rabbit has the gun,\u201d Lawrence smirked.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re the ones with the dot on our back. So, I just want to see how that feels.\u201d<\/p>\n
After spending his entire career with Dallas, Lawrence joined the Seahawks last offseason. He says the brotherhood on defense, especially with so many journeymen, is genuine.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just great to have those caliber of leaders in the locker room with you. Like-minded guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
That culture is on full display this year, thanks in part to HBO\u2019s Hard Knocks. <\/p>\n
The training camp docuseries debuted earlier this week. And, Shaheed said everyone\u2019s hoping for a starring role. <\/p>\n
\u201cA ton of laughs, a ton of jokes. It\u2019s kind of cool to see how HBO portrays our team on TV,\u201d Shaheed said. <\/p>\n
He says it\u2019s been a great insight into the mindset inside the building. A look at how the team competes against each other and how the franchise operates from top to bottom. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to continue to watch,\u201d says Shaheed.<\/p>\n
