Last week, ESPN wrote a headline that tied Nick Chubb to the Dallas Cowboys; sources told us then that there was absolutely no connection with the Browns fan favorite.<\/a> originally appeared on Athlon Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Browns<\/a>\u00a0are saying goodbye to a franchise legend this offseason. Who will say “hello”?<\/p>\n

To ESPN, that depends on which way the wind is blowing.<\/p>\n

The Nick Chubb era is over. At some point, Chubb\u2019s injuries and recent ineffectiveness made it increasingly clear that the next good Browns team would have a new stable of running backs.<\/p>\n

Jerome Ford will be a holdover. He ran the show for Cleveland at a far more efficient clip than Chubb last season, and figures to remain a part of the team\u2019s plans in 2025. He\u2019ll be joined by two rookies in Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.<\/p>\n

Our scouting report?<\/p>\n

Judkins and Sampson are complementary. Judkins is more polished, a consistent between-the-tackles rusher whose technique and strength make him an early-down aficionado. Sampson, meanwhile, projects to be the passing-down back whose explosiveness stands out.<\/p>\n

And we think, respectfully, that Browns fans should turn their attention there.<\/p>\n

Along with that, though? ESPN is throwing more gunk against the wall to see if it sticks.<\/p>\n

Last week, ESPN wrote a headline that tied Chubb to the Dallas Cowboys; sources told us then that there was absolutely no connection.<\/p>\n

And this week?<\/p>\n

Hey, another weekend, another rumor …<\/p>\n

The network’s Jeremy Fowler is tying Chubb to the Washington Commanders.<\/p>\n

You’ll note that Fowler doesn’t exactly come right out and “report” it …<\/p>\n

He just sort of tosses it out there.<\/p>\n

The Browns<\/a> made an organizational decision here … and emotionally, it’s a difficult one, for them and for Cleveland fans. And in a sense now, ESPN is toying with those emotions.<\/p>\n

If we’re wrong, we’ll report it. But we have heard nothing credible coming from NFL sources that indicate a Nick Chubb signing is on any team’s front burner. …<\/p>\n

No matter how many times ESPN suggests otherwise.<\/p>\n
