Ex-Texans OL Kendall Lamm is calling it a career.<\/p>\n
Former Houston Texans<\/a> starting offensive lineman Kendall Lamm is calling it a career.<\/p>\n Lamm began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Texans in 2015, and he spent four seasons with the organization before moving on. His journey included stops with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins<\/a>, and Tennessee Titans.<\/p>\n Now, Lamm, who turned 35 in June, is stepping into his post-playing career in an unexpected announcement.<\/p>\n Ex-Texans OT Kendall Lamm Decides on Retirement<\/p>\n Lamm\u2019s decision was not a one-off for his new team, the Baltimore Ravens, with whom the former Texans starter joined<\/a> on August 3.<\/p>\n He is not even the only offensive lineman.<\/p>\n \u201cVeteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm was added to the reserve\/retired list. Signed earlier in August, the 34-year-old Lamm played 11 NFL seasons with the Texans, Browns, Titans, and Dolphins,\u201d BaltimoreRavens.com\u2019s Ryan Mink wrote<\/a> on August 14.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ravens had signed Lamm to replace veteran offensive tackle Hakeem Adeniji, who also was placed on the reserve\/retired list.\u201d<\/p>\n Notably, Adeniji followed a similar timeline.<\/p>\n Timeline on Ravens backup OL retirement situation<\/p>\n \u2013 July 25th: Signed Hakeem Adeniji Lamm started 24 of the 55 games that he appeared in for the Texans during his tenure, both standing as his career-high marks. He also had stints with the Detroit Lions<\/a> and the Philadelphia Eagles in his career.<\/p>\n Reactions Pour In for Kendall Lamm<\/p>\n The Dolphins bookended the Texans in Lamm\u2019s career, with Miami media and fans among those reacting to the news.<\/p>\n \u201cKendall Lamm is a sharp guy,\u201d Palm Beach Post\u2019s Joe Schad posted<\/a> on X on August 14, quoting a report of news about the 11-year veteran\u2019s decision. \u201cSomeone should give him a tryout as an analyst.\u201d<\/p>\n A fan account on X posted<\/a>, \u201cDolphins legend Kendall Lamm.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy favorite swing tackle ever,\u201d another fan account posted<\/a>, adding, \u201cValiantly fought for the Dolphins,\u201d and that they will \u201cnever forget you Kendall Lamm.\u201d<\/p>\n Browns fans got in on the action, too, with yet another account posting<\/a>, \u201cOnly elite ball knowers remember when Kendall lamm shut down \u2018playoff Frank Clark\u2019 for the Cleveland browns in the 2020 divisional round.\u201d<\/p>\n Lamm has practiced<\/a> with the Ravens, but the ex-Texans OL still walked away.<\/p>\n Lamm was 38 days from the anniversary of his NFL debut and 56 days away from the anniversary of his first NFL start, a moment the Texans commemorated<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ravens Making Texans Look Wise<\/p>\n The Ravens\u2019 questions along their offensive line go beyond Lamm and Adeniji\u2019s respective exits, which is something the Texans can empathize with. It is also fitting context for the Texans\u2019 approach to this offseason.<\/p>\n They doubled up at several positions up front, including offensive tackle, re-signing Trent Brown and adding Braden Smith in free agency.<\/p>\n At least after the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>, Brown is ahead.<\/p>\n He got the night off while Smith lined up with the starters. That could mean that the Texans are preparing Smith to start, since the offensive line\u2019s starters opened the game.
