Riley Moss\u2019<\/a> night started fast and may have ended just as quickly on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Broncos\u2019 starting cornerback nearly intercepted Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love on the first play of a preseason game Friday night.<\/p>\n

After the second play, though, Moss exited the game with his hands on his ribs and went to the blue medical tent. Not long after, he was taken back to the Denver locker room and deemed questionable to return with a rib injury.<\/p>\n

Moss, 26, is having a terrific training camp and preseason for the Broncos<\/a>. He has made plays on a daily basis in practice and logged an interception in Denver\u2019s preseason opener last week at Atlanta.<\/p>\n

The former University of Iowa standout is in line to start opposite Pat Surtain II for a third straight season this fall and could play his way into a lucrative contract if he continues to make the kind of progress he\u2019s looked capable of this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just seen him playing lights out, honestly,\u201d Surtain said earlier this week. \u201cWhen the ball is in the air, he\u2019s winning those contested catches and coming down either with a pick or deflection. That\u2019s big-time with him. We all know what type of player Riley is and he\u2019s excelling big time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s having a great camp so far.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph wants Moss to play with better technique and less with his hands, and so far this summer he\u2019s shown the ability to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis downfall last year was just playing clean and not getting penalties. Watching him now, he\u2019s been calm. He\u2019s seeing splits. He\u2019s playing square with intermediate routes. When the ball goes vertical, he\u2019s not fouling. He\u2019s following the football. That\u2019s the progression for most young corners. \u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s on track to have a great year.\u201d<\/p>\n
