Kyle Pitts<\/a> has fallen short of expectations thus far in the NFL. Still, there are a ton of believers in the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> tight end throughout the league, and it could lead to a trade in the near future.<\/p>\n

FOX Sports\u2019 Jordan Schultz<\/a> reported<\/a> on Friday that multiple teams have reached out to Atlanta regarding the availability of the tight end. He noted<\/a> that nothing is imminent, and the Falcons would prefer to keep him moving forward. Still, talks will start at a Day 2 pick at the least, and it might take more than that.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the 2025 season, Pitts is entering the last year of his rookie contract. The Falcons have been believers in him through multiple coaching changes, as they picked up his fifth-year option last spring. If a team does decide to trade for Pitts, it\u2019ll cost them \u2014 he\u2019s owed $10.878 million in 2025.<\/p>\n

During his first season in the league, Pitts caught 68 passes for 1,026 yards, but he only scored one touchdown. He hasn\u2019t been able to reach the stardom many expected of him coming into the league as a premier pick, and his 2024 production underscored all that \u2014 he caught 47 passes for 602 yards with four touchdowns last season. <\/p>\n

Moreover, Pitts hasn\u2019t done his part to quell trade rumors. He wasn\u2019t in attendance at voluntary OTAs for the Falcons. Quarterback\u00a0Kirk Cousins<\/a>\u00a0was a no-show, as well. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a similar story for Cousins, 36, who signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons in the 2024 offseason. His time in Atlanta didn\u2019t go swimmingly last season, and it seems he could be available for trade after being benched last season in favor of 2024 first round pick\u00a0Michael Penix Jr.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coming off a torn Achilles from the season prior, Cousins wasn\u2019t the same quarterback in Atlanta as he was the previous six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. Cousins started 14 games, throwing for 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on 66.9% passing.<\/p>\n

It feels like they\u2019re two birds of the same feather. NFL experts thought Pitts could help Cousins and vice versa. That wasn\u2019t the case, and now both could be on their way off the Falcons, instead of receiving a chance to right the ship.<\/p>\n

As the season gets closer and closer, it\u2019ll be interesting to keep an eye on how the Kyle Pitts situation resolves. Whether he\u2019s wearing a Falcons jersey or rocking a new uniform in 2025, he\u2019s still only 24 years old \u2014 there\u2019s time, if you\u2019re willing to try and take a chance on the former No. 4 overall pick.<\/p>\n
