The Green Bay Packers\u2018 recent NFL campaigns may not have ended with the expected results, and many began to suggest that a dip in Jordan Love<\/a>\u2018s performance was partly to blame. However, Matt LaFleur made it clear that this is not the case, expressing his confidence that the team can improve heading into the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s well known that this team faces tough competition within the NFC North, the reality is that the talented quarterback saw a decline in his stats, partly due to injuries that forced him to miss some games. For now, this is the narrative LaFleur<\/a> stands by in the face of criticism.<\/p>\n

During a recent conversation with the media, the head coach came to the defense of his on-field leader, voicing his support for Love and expressing confidence in starting the season strong from Week 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s like a narrative out there for whatever reason that he wasn\u2019t as productive as the year before,\u201d LaFleur said, via The Athletic. \u201cWell, he missed significant time. He missed the better of three games. Really, it was Indy. It was Tennessee. He went out in Jacksonville and then he went out in Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, you know, three games is a significant amount of time and you\u2019re not going to produce as much from a numbers perspective \u2026 and also, let\u2019s be honest \u2014 we\u2019ve talked about this \u2014 we did have a lot of drops last year. So there\u2019s other circumstances that play into it. I think all in all, everybody\u2019s going to be better, though.\u201d<\/p>\n

Far from distancing himself from the criticism surrounding the Packers<\/a>\u2018 performances in past seasons, Jordan Love told the media that he\u2019s not focused solely on his personal stats, but rather on achieving team goals alongside his teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, what is a step back is what I\u2019d ask?\u201d Love said. \u201cYou know what I mean? Everybody has different opinions, things like that. You gotta block that stuff out. It\u2019s all about the goals of the team at the end of the day. I\u2019d say we won more games than we did the year before. That\u2019s why I ask people, what is a step back?<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I said, everybody has opinions, things like that. Try to block that out and focus on doing me and being the best player I can be, like I\u2019ve talked about, and go forward. But at the end of the day, personal stats, things like that, that\u2019s all in the back. You gotta focus on the goals of the team, first and foremost.\u201c<\/p>\n
