For the second time this week, the Seattle Seahawks have suffered a brutal blow as a young and highly anticipated rookie left Seattle\u2019s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans after a scary-looking injury. <\/p>\n

The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> suffered another brutal blow on Sunday night when rookie safety Bud Clark went down with a gruesome leg injury during the preseason game against the Tennessee Titans<\/a>. Clark, the Seahawks\u2019 second-round pick out of TCU in April\u2019s draft, had his leg placed in an air cast before being carted off the field, casting serious doubt over his availability for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

The visuals alone painted a grim picture, but after the game, head coach Mike Macdonald said Clark suffered a broken ankle, and Seattle now finds itself dealing with more bad news on a week that has already delivered plenty.<\/p>\n

Clark\u2019s injury marks the second major blow for the Seahawks in just a few days. Wide receiver Jake Bobo has already been confirmed out for the year<\/a> with a knee injury, and now Clark\u2019s status is very much in question, as it will be months before he can return. It unfortunately doesn\u2019t look like Clark\u2019s NFL career is going to get going this year, or at least not early on in 2026, depending on what exactly happens with this injury.<\/p>\n

For a team trying to build depth and develop young talent heading into the regular season, losing two players to injuries in the same week is a significant setback.<\/p>\n

Why Clark\u2019s injury stings for the Seahawks\u2019 defense<\/p>\n

Beyond the immediate roster implications, this is a real bummer for a player who generated a lot of excitement throughout the pre-draft process. Clark was a standout at the Senior Bowl<\/a> and drew praise from scouts and the draft community alike for his rare versatility. The Seahawks were obviously high on him, evidenced by the fact that they invested their second-round selection on him.<\/p>\n

What made Clark so intriguing was his ability to play safety like a corner. He could guard receivers out of the slot, mirror and match against different body types, and bring a level of coverage ability that most safeties simply don\u2019t possess. That skill set is why so many evaluators, myself included, were bullish on his NFL future.<\/p>\n

Clark has a long and fruitful future in the NFL. The talent and versatility are there. It just unfortunately looks like the start of that will be delayed, and the Seahawks will have to adjust their plans on the back end of their defense in the meantime.<\/p>\n
