New Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton<\/a> is ready to pick up where he left off last season for the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n

Seen as a purely developmental player, the then-rookie Milton got his first start in Week 18 against the Buffalo Bills, who rested a lot of starters, and he showcased his talents.<\/p>\n

In what is the only tape of Milton dealing with “live NFL bullets,” he finished his day going 22 for 29 with 241 yards, a touchdown, a passer rating of 111.4, and a QBR of 72.4.<\/p>\n

That’ll do for your first start. But it wasn’t enough for the Patriots to continue with him.<\/p>\n

And now he’s a Cowboy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t think I showed nothing for real,\u201d Milton said about his game against Buffalo as Cowboys OTAs continue at The Star. \u201cI think I was just out there having fun, personally, I feel like I was just doing what the play call wanted me to do, and that was just executing plays. It was quite the performance as his rocket arm was on display as he regularly dialed up the launch codes with some serious zip on his throws.<\/p>\n

Now, they won’t be the case every week, and Joe was going against backups for the most part, but you can only play who is in front of you, and Milton performed well.<\/p>\n

He comes to Dallas via trade and joins a quarterback room with Dak Prescott and Will Grier as his mentors under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. … with our Mike Fisher of CowboysCountry.com noting that last week, he appeared to move up to second-team behind Dak.<\/p>\n

So while many think Joe put some good things on film against Buffalo, he was simply just having fun out there, and if that is the product he can put on tape when he’s having fun, then his career as a Cowboy might just be a rather entertaining thing to watch.<\/p>\n
