said he was in<\/a> \u201cconstant communication\u201d with Stevenson while the running back stayed back in Las Vegas to be with family. Stevenson was appreciative of the support from the Patriots\u2019 new coaching staff.<\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019ll keep the dialogue to myself, but it meant a lot,\u201d Stevenson said. \u201cJust the whole coaching staff just still having my back, checking in on me. (Running backs coach Tony Dews) even came to Vegas for a little bit. So, you know, all that means a lot to me, a lot to my family. And you know, I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stevenson made a diving highlight catch during Monday\u2019s practice on a pass from Patriots QB Drake Maye.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a man alert there. I know I have to win,\u201d Stevenson said of the play. \u201cMy guy Drake threw it up to me. It\u2019s like the first ball this whole OTA. So I\u2019m glad I caught it, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stevenson is one of few players on offense who has a history being coached by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Stevenson was a rookie in 2021, McDaniels\u2019 last season as Patriots offensive coordinator before he left to become head coach of the Raiders.<\/p>\n
McDaniels returned to his post as OC this offseason, and Stevenson said he\u2019s comfortable in the familiar system.<\/p>\n
\u201cJosh and Bill Belichick yelled at me a lot my rookie year for the same playbook,\u201d Stevenson said. \u201cSo I kind of got it drilled into me. Just need to just go over a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n
The offense won\u2019t be a carbon copy of what Stevenson knew in 2021.
