The Patriots released one of their top backups Monday to make room for their waiver claims.<\/p>\n
The team released offensive lineman Ben Brown, per the NFL transaction wire. It\u2019s a logistical move, per ESPN\u2019s Mike Reiss, with Brown expected to rejoin the Patriots shortly.<\/p>\n
Brown began the summer as the Patriots\u2019 top backup at guard and center. He suffered an injury<\/a> in the Patriots\u2019 first preseason game.<\/p>\n The team needed to make room for new waiver claims<\/a> tight end Cameron Latu and linebacker Darius Muasau. The Patriots also cut<\/a> linebacker K.J. Britt to make space on the 53-man roster.<\/p>\n As a vested veteran, Brown does not need to pass through waivers.<\/p>\n Brown originally joined the Patriots in 2024 after they signed him off the Raiders\u2019 practice squad. Brown signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots last season.<\/p>\n The Patriots are currently left with LT Will Campbell, LG Alijah Vera-Tucker, C Jared Wilson, RG Mike Onwenu, RT Morgan Moses, backup tackles Caleb Lomu, Dametrious Crownover and Walter Rouse and backup guard\/center Greg Van Roten on their offensive line.<\/p>\n Brown started 10 games for the Patriots in 2024 and another four games in 2025.
