(AP) \u2014 Veteran linebacker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/shaq-thompson-player\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shaq Thompson<\/a> is back in Buffalo after being one of 17 players signed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/buffalo-bills-team\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bills<\/a>&#8216; practice squad on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-0a453225=\"\">Thompson has 11 seasons of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> experience \u2014 the first 10 with Carolina \u2014 and had been unsigned since his one-year contract with Bills expired in March. The 32-year-old provides depth at inside linebacker for a defense switching to a 3-4 system under new coordinator Jim Leonhard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-0a453225=\"\">The Bills&#8217; active roster features just four inside linebackers, led by starters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/terrel-bernard-player\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terrel Bernard<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/dorian-williams-player\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dorian Williams<\/a>. Thompson had six starts in 12 games with Buffalo last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-0a453225=\"\">Another practice squad addition was receiver Greg Dortch, who joined Buffalo a day after the sixth-year player was cut by Detroit.
