Quarterback Justin Herbert is responding well to McDaniel\u2019s system, which should allow Johnston and the other wide receivers to flourish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cI\u2019m glad I got a quarterback that can get the ball out there like that. I always still go back at film and get amazed at some of the passes and how far he throws the ball. Fun to be a part of,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chargers.com\/news\/justin-herbert-53-man-roster-deadline\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johnston said via the team\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201dWe got a supreme quarterback, supreme offensive coordinator and we got all the pieces that fit in and mesh well. I\u2019m excited for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">During the team\u2019s final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, Herbert found Johnston for a 65-yard touchdown. That served as a preview for what could be coming with the Chargers offense this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">After scoring just three points in their wild card round game against the New England Patriots back in January, the Chargers knew they needed to make some changes when it came to the offense.
