There\u2019s been a growing debate on whether or not the Buffalo Bills are nearing the end of their Super Bowl window with QB Josh Allen, but it\u2019s a debate with an easy answer. <\/p>\n

Is the Super Bowl window closing for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills? Danny Parkins and Greg Jennings tackled that question on First Things First, and Parkins made his stance clear<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that Josh Allen is inevitable. I think he is too good. He\u2019s gonna get there. I do not think the window is closing at all for Josh Allen and the Bills.\u201d<\/p>\n

Look, I agree with Parkins here. The window is not closed. But I think it\u2019s fair to point out that it has definitely shrunk a little bit. Josh Allen turned 30 this past May. He is a more veteran quarterback at this point. This is not the same type of window as it was for Allen in 2021 or 2022. Time has passed, and he is only getting older as every season goes by.<\/p>\n

I think the Buffalo Bills recognized that, too. Firing Sean McDermott after last season and handing the job to Joe Brady showed me the organization knows it has to capitalize on this time with Allen as its franchise quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not saying that was necessarily the wrong decision, but it told me something about the urgency inside the building.<\/p>\n

Allen\u2019s playoff numbers don\u2019t lie<\/p>\n

Now, I know the national conversation after that game in Denver last year has been brutal about Josh Allen in the playoffs. I think it\u2019s gotten way out of hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Look at his career playoff numbers<\/a>: a passer rating of 101.5, 3,900 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions across 15 playoff games. Those are elite numbers. He averages 261 passing yards per game in the postseason with a touchdown percentage of 5.4. The dude is elite in the playoffs, and does his best to put the team on his back.<\/p>\n

The problem for Buffalo has never been Allen. It\u2019s whether the guys around him can make the plays needed to get this team over the top. That\u2019s what has been needed to get the Bills into a Super Bowl. Credit to Brandon Beane, he\u2019s put together a roster that might be able to do it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The supporting cast and defensive growth<\/p>\n

The Bills brought in DJ Moore as their new top wide receiver<\/a> for 2026. James Cook has ascended into one of the best running backs in the league. Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox remain a solid tight end duo. Khalil Shakir is still a reliable slot receiver. We\u2019re trying to see what Keon Coleman and Skyler Bell<\/a> can give the team, and even Joshua Palmer is working back from injury.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve got pieces around Allen. Is it the best offense in the league? No. But Allen finds a way to somehow make them one of the top units every single year.<\/p>\n

On defense, Buffalo was excellent against the pass last season, in fact they were one of the best units against it in the league. The run game, on the other hand, was a very weak point<\/a> for Buffalo\u2019s defense. There\u2019s a clear area for growth in that metric.<\/p>\n

When it comes to guys that can help out with that problem, a primary candidate that I look at is second-year DT Deone Walker<\/a>. Walker was one of the most talented defensive players in the 2025 draft class and Buffalo was able to scoop him up in the fourth-round after he dealt with injuries. His ascension could greatly help this front against the ground game.<\/p>\n

And look, if the Bills can defend the run game in 2026 while maintaining good pass defense, that side of the ball could become a championship level unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Home field could be the difference<\/p>\n

The biggest thing for the Bills this year, and I know it\u2019s tough to do under a first-year head coach, is winning the AFC East. They need that home field advantage, even at a new Highmark Stadium. They need it in the playoffs instead of having to go on the road like they did last year in Jacksonville and Denver.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If they can get that done, I see no reason why they can\u2019t make it to Los Angeles in Feb. 2027 and have a chance to hoist the Lombardi.<\/p>\n

Make no mistake, Allen\u2019s Super Bowl window is not closed. We\u2019ve seen older quarterbacks in this era of the NFL continue to have great success. Heck, Matthew Stafford just won an MVP. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees played great into their mid to late 30s, and Brady kept going into his 40s. I think Allen is ascending into that conversation of all-time greats and could be one of those guys.<\/p>\n

With that being said, the Bills better find a way to get there in the next few years. If they don\u2019t, I think their organization could look to shake some things up. Maybe Josh Allen\u2019s career won\u2019t finish in western New York. No one inside the organization wants that, but if it came to it, they might have to move on.<\/p>\n

Joe Brady has a massive challenge ahead of him this year. Not many head coaches get this sort of opportunity their first time around. He knows Josh Allen better than anyone at this point. I believe he\u2019ll know how to get the best out of him and this team in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Josh Allen at quarterback, the Bills still have the possibility to achieve anything.<\/p>\n
