The Cleveland Browns don’t yet know who will be under center in Week 1 in 2025, but that’s ok, they still don’t have enough pass catchers behind Jerry Jeudy.<\/p>\n

After the team shipped Amari Cooper off to Buffalo last season, they were short a man. They still are, and didn’t address the position in the draft.<\/p>\n

While rumors of Cooper’s return still swirl, the team has 12 wideouts on the roster. But what if the answer isn’t at wideout?<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox<\/a> suggests a trade with the Atlanta Falcons to bring in tight end Kyle Pitts.<\/p>\n

“While player-for-player swaps are rare, this one could make sense for both teams,” Knox writes<\/a>. “Pitts hasn’t really been an offensive centerpiece since his rookie season, and the Falcons may not want to pay him market value long-term. Newsome has been mostly solid for the Browns, when healthy, but Cleveland needs to think about its offensive future. If the Browns don’t find a long-term quarterback in trade acquisition Kenny Pickett or rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, they’ll likely target a QB at the top of the 2026 draft. Current starting tight end David Njoku is set to be a free agent in 2026, and rookie Harold Fannin Jr. is unproven.<\/p>\n

“This theoretical deal would allow the Falcons and Browns to trade in players who may not be in their long-term plans for one-year auditions with other products from the 2021 draft.”<\/p>\n

It’s an odd suggestion because of their current tight end situation. David Njoku is still under contract through next season with an $11.5 million salary. And the team just spent a third-round pick on Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr.<\/p>\n

It’s not that the Browns wouldn’t like to move Newsome, it’s just that plugging Pitts into this offense seems like redundancy with Njoku and Fannin in the mix.<\/p>\n
