One of the Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> selections in the 2025 NFL draft made Field Yates’ list <\/a>of ‘favorite picks in every round.’<\/p>\n

Now that the dust has settled on the NFL draft, Yates went round-by-round and selected his five favorite selections from each one. We saw the Colts<\/a> appear on this list in the first round, where they selected tight end Tyler Warren.<\/p>\n

“Warren was my top tight end in this class and the seventh player on my board<\/a>,” Yates wrote. “I was uncertain he would make it to Indianapolis at No. 14, but the Colts were helped by the Bears<\/a> opting for Michigan’s Colston Loveland<\/a> four picks earlier. The best picks are drafting for value at a need, which certainly is the case here.”<\/p>\n

As Yates mentions, the best selections are when value meets need, and that’s exactly what Warren to the Colts was.<\/p>\n

He can provide that much-needed pass-catching presence at the position, totaling over 100 receptions and more than 1,200 yards last season. As GM Chris Ballard mentioned, with Warren’s size and hands, he always seems to be open, and he will be a major threat over the middle of the field.<\/p>\n

However, beyond the pass-catching component, Warren, as both Ballard and Shane Steichen have said, is going to add “toughness” to the offense, along with a well-rounded skill set.<\/p>\n

Warren isn’t only a pass-catching threat; he is versatile and can be moved around the formation, along with being a capable run-blocker as well.<\/p>\n

That do-it-all presence can add some unpredictability to the Colts offense with all the different roles he can fill.<\/p>\n
