Packers RB Josh Jacobs set for first court appearance Thursday<\/p>\n

Jacobs is scheduled to appear in Brown County court on misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges stemming from a May incident.<\/p>\n

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday morning on two misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident at his home in May.<\/p>\n

Jacobs is set to appear in Brown County court at 11 a.m. on charges of battery and criminal damage to property, both Class A misdemeanors.<\/p>\n

The hearing was originally scheduled for Nov. 17 but was moved up to Thursday, just three days before the Packers open the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old has denied the allegations.<\/p>\n

The charges stem from a May 23 incident at Jacobs’ home. According to the criminal complaint, a woman visiting from Chicago discovered messages to other women on Jacobs’ phone and threw the phone during an argument.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Jacobs then took the woman’s cellphone and refused to give it back. The two struggled over the phone before leaving the home in separate vehicles.<\/p>\n

The woman later followed Jacobs because he still had her phone, and the two eventually returned to the house.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say the confrontation escalated when the woman later tried to leave again through the garage. Jacobs is accused of grabbing her and throwing her to the ground, causing her to hit her head.<\/p>\n

Police later noted a bump on her head and redness on her face and neck.<\/p>\n

Investigators also recovered home surveillance video that prosecutors say showed Jacobs taking the phone from the woman while she was on the garage floor and later damaging it.<\/p>\n

The NFL placed Jacobs on the Commissioner’s Exempt List on Aug. 30 while the matter remains under review. The designation prevents him from practicing or playing in games, although he continues to be paid. <\/p>\n

Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked Wednesday whether Thursday’s hearing could provide more clarity about Jacobs’ status.<\/p>\n

“Obviously, the more clarity, the better, but it’s just wait and see,” LaFleur said.<\/p>\n

Jacobs is a three-time Pro Bowl running back who joined the Packers in March 2024 after spending his first five NFL seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He has since become a key part of Green Bay’s offense and has served as a team captain.<\/p>\n
