We have an interesting new development between the Montreal Canadiens and the Pittsburgh Penguins-and for once, it doesn’t involve Sidney Crosby. An NHL executive genuinely believes that forward Evgeni Malkin could be traded to the Canadiens. After acquiring right-shot defenseman Noah Dobson, all signs point to the Habs now shifting their focus to bringing in reinforcements up front-likely, more specifically, at center.

Which brings us to Malkin.

An NHL Executive Sends Evgeni Malkin to the Montreal Canadiens

“According to Jimmy Murphy, who discussed the topic in a piece for RG Media, one NHL executive sees added value in the idea of Malkin being traded to the Canadiens-the team that employs Ivan Demidov.”

– DansLesCoulisses

It’s true, he would be quite the mentor for Ivan Demidov.

“I mean, would a team like Montreal be interested in having him as a mentor for Ivan Demidov? [Absolutely!]”

– An anonymous NHL executive

Seeing Demidov play on the wing of his childhood idol-in Montreal-would be something special.

This will definitely be a situation to watch, especially since the article’s title literally states, “Malkin in play as trade market heats up.”

The next few days could be very interesting!

Let’s not forget that Tony Marinaro shared the same idea, as we reported yesterday:
