DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Minnesota’s Xcel Energy Center will be named the “Grand Casino Arena” starting in September.
The Minnesota Wild released a statement Monday saying the arena agreed to a new partnership with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
“This partnership is a dream – Grand Casino Arena gives us an incredible platform to engage fans, tell our story in bold new ways, and bring the Grand Casino experience to downtown Saint Paul,” said Jeff LaFrance, Head of Marketing for Grand Casino, which has locations in Onamia and Hinckley.
According to Minnesota Wild leaders, the new name will last for 14 years, beginning on September 3, 2025.
As part of the partnership, all signage will be replaced before the start of the 2025 – 2026 NHL regular season to reflect the new Grand Casino Arena name.
There is no word on how much the deal cost the band.
