Armstrong said Mailloux has a place on the depth chart for next season and beyond.

The 22-year-old split last season between the Canadiens and their AHL affiliate.

Meanwhile, the Blues added a free agent, signing Utah forward Nick Bjugstad  to a multi-year deal. He’s a veteran of 760 career NHL games.

Doug Armstrong said the signing came after efforts to ink Radek Faksa to a new deal fell apart.
