The NHL offseason continues with trade rumors making their way around the league. After the Vegas Golden Knights acquired Mitch Marner via a sign and trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs, there are still plenty of other trades that could yet happen. That said, here is a look at three trade rumors that are currently doing the rounds.
Red Wings Considering a Trade for Their Captain
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who was drafted by Detroit in 2014, has played his entire career in the Motor City. He has become the cornerstone around whom the team has built itself, but now the Red Wings are desperate for a roster change.
With an eye on the future, Detroit could be involved in a three-player deal that sees their captain on the move. As per speculation, Larkin could be involved in a trade against two young forwards. The primary objective of this trade would include relinquishing veteran presence and experience in lieu of a more dynamic offense centered around younger talent.
Needless to say, this decision will not be easy for the Red Wings management. What Larkin has brought to the team both on and off the ice cannot be easily replicated, and if Detroit were to trade their captain, there will be some huge shoes to fill, that much is for sure.
“We want to win. We don’t want to just make the playoffs, we want to win the Stanley Cup…and parading down Woodward.”
Dylan Larkin believes the Red Wings are growing “from within” like the Tigers across the street.

Bowen Byram Once Again Subject of Trade Speculation
It seems like every few weeks, Bowen Byram’s name has been popping up in conversations around trade talks recently. However, there is good reason to believe that a trade may just be on the cards after the Sabres dealt winger JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth.
There are talks circulating that Byram could be traded in order to secure a replacement for Peterka. If that is true, there could be a few suitors willing to trade for the Sabres’ defensemen, including the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, and the Vegas Golden Knights, who seem to all have held talks with Buffalo as per Darren Dreger of TSN.

Flames’ Defender Rasmus Andersson Also Linked to a Trade
As per Pierre LeBrun of TSN, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is also a name rife with trade talks. The potential suitors for Andersson include the Ottawa Senators, the Kings, the Golden Knights, and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
However, trading Andersson to any of these teams doesn’t look feasible. First of all, the problem with Ottawa is that the Senators are on his no-trade list. As for the Golden Knights, cap space will be a huge issue now that they have signed Mitch Marner, so Vegas will most probably be ruled out.

The Kings could still be in play for Andersson, but they have already signed Brian Dumoulin and Cody Ceci, making it highly unlikely that they will go after the Flames defender as well. That leaves the Blue Jackets, who have the cap space to easily afford Andersson, but they have also re-signed defenders Ivan Provorov and Dante Fabbro.
Trade rumors will continue to float around the NHL as many teams look to reshape their rosters, and either build for the future or add talent to increase their chances at winning now. Whatever happens, it will be intriguing to follow, especially when a trade could materialize from nowhere.
