In a surprising announcement on Friday that has caught everyone by surprise, Vancouver Canucks legend Todd Bertuzzi is officially make his pro-comeback after signing a one-year contract.

Over his 1159 game career that spanned 20 and suiting up for 8 different NHL clubs, eight of those were with the Vancouver Canucks.

Bertuzzi played 18 seasons in the NHL for six different teams, including the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, and Detroit Red Wings.

Out of all the teams, he is particularly known for his run with the Canucks in the early 2000s, where he was apart of the electric line with Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison where he put up a career high numbers during the 2002-03 season, scoring 46 goals and 51 assists for 97 points.

He is known most notably known for his involvement in the Steve Moore Incident, On March 8, 2004, where he punched Colorado Avalanche’s Steve Moore from behind, knocking him to the ices din ending his NHL career.

Now, the former power forward is the head coach of the Junior team the Cambridge RedHawks.

But now, a new announcement shocked many when it was confirmed he will be serving a dual role, as he signed a one-year contract with the Senior “AAA” Cambridge Hornets, who currently play in the Ontario Hockey Association’s Major League.

‘Having a household NHL name makes people pay attention,’ Eric Boissonneault, co-owner of the RedHawks, said back in May.

‘His passion for the game and his excitement to be here coaching is contagious. Players will want to play for him. And then you add his experience and knowledge in the game and you get a recipe for success.’
