The Seattle Kraken have re-signed forward Tye Kartye to a two-year deal worth $1.25 million per year, the team announced Saturday.

Seattle Kraken sign first-round NHL Draft pick Jake O’Brien

Kartye, who was a restricted free agent, totaled 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 63 games last season. He was second on the club with 175 hits, which was also fourth in the NHL among skaters with 63 or fewer games played.

“We’re happy to keep Tye within the organization for two more years,” general manager Jason Botterill said in a release. “Tye has worked to develop his game with us over the last few seasons, and we look forward to continuing that growth moving forward.”

Kartye, 24, broke into the NHL with an impressive debut stretch during Seattle’s playoff run in 2023. He scored a goal in his debut during the Kraken’s 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 of their first-round series, and notched two goals and two assists over seven games as the Kraken fell to the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference semifinals.

The Kingston, Ontario, native became a regular member of the lineup the next season and set a single-season franchise record with 229 hits, adding 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 77 games.

Kartye, an undrafted free agent signing in 2022, was the AHL Rookie of the Year with the Coachella Valley Firebirds during the 2022-23 season. He led all rookies with 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists).

The Kraken went 35-41-6 (76 points) and finished 20 points outside of a playoff spot in 2024-25. They fired head coach Dan Bylsma following his only season at the helm and hired Lane Lambert to be the franchise’s third-ever head coach.
