Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens clearly want to bring some big boys into Martin St-Louis’ lineup.
Especially after the first-round series against the Washington Capitals, I think we all realized that this is a clear need for the Habs.
In the category of “monsters” soon arriving in Montreal, we already know about Florian Xhekaj, but after what we’ve seen in the past few days, we can now confirm that Kent Hughes managed to get his hands on a second monster.Tyler Thorpe, the breakout star of the Montreal Canadiens development camp
Thorpe is definitely the name on everyone’s lips in the Canadiens organization right now.
“The Canadiens have two monstrous forwards in their pipeline!”
He’s big, he’s physical, but he also has incredible hands.
“It’s not often you see a big guy with hands like that!”
Here’s another clear example.
Most observers agree, Tyler Thorpe already looked way too dominant compared to the other players at the Canadiens’ development camp.
A pro among juniors, a man among boys!
He’ll definitely be a name to watch this fall.
We know Kent Hughes isn’t afraid to make trades and move up in the draft when he really wants a player.
Thanks to a trade with the San Jose Sharks to acquire the 130th overall pick in the 2024 draft, the Canadiens were able to land Thorpe.
It looks like quite the steal!
Tyler Thorpe, just 19 years old, is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound forward who put up 52 points in 68 games this season in the WHL, including 27 goals.
He also added two points in a single AHL game with the Laval Rocket.
