After reportedly sitting out all on-ice sessions at Maple Leafs training camp, top prospect Easton Cowan has revealed one specific request the team has made of him this summer.
After suffering heartbreak in 2023-24, losing in the Memorial Cup Final, Maple Leafs top prospect Easton Cowan had his sights set on making the Maple Leafs out of training camp in 2024-25. Unfortunately for Cowan, it didn’t work out that way.
After a solid, albeit unspectacular season, Cowan found another gear in the OHL playoffs and Memorial Cup tournament, returning to his red hot form from the year prior, this time capturing the Memorial Cup, and being named playoff MVP.
Now, with eyes on making the Leafs out of training camp in 2025-26, Cowan has revealed that the Leafs have made a very specific request of him this summer; get bigger and stronger.
Cowan reportedly will not skate during this year’s Development Camp, which was the Leafs’ call. The team saw Cowan play a lot of hockey this season, and instead wants to see him put in extra dry-land work to gain some muscle mass.
